“Poltergeist-Hi-fi” is an experimental work for speakers and objects. Five loudspeakers lying in the room set the objects in motion that are placed in the speaker membranes. Max_MSP is sending impulses to the speakers. The impulses that act on the material are based on a 16-raster (in the fashion of a basic sequencer). The loudspeakers are therefore always in the same time grid, but can act autonomous in time signature. This creates a complex polyrhythmic clowning, and sometimes a clumsy pounding.
The viewer can randomly re-mix the impulses by pressing a colored random button on a fancy mobile interface, adjust the tempo, or simply do nothing while the rhythms transform.
